After installing PrestaShop on hosting it is important to carry out a basic configuration of the system, so that the online store runs stably and is ready to be stocked. First of all, log in to the admin panel and change the default administrator password for a complex combination.
We also advise changing the admin panel URL from /admin to something unique (admin_secure123, for example). That will improve the site’s security and protect it from hacking.
Next check the store’s main parameters. Enter the company name, the contact details, the currency, the language and the time zone. These settings are in the general parameters section and affect whether prices, orders and notifications display correctly.
The next stage is setting up SEF links and SEO. Enable human-readable URLs and add the store name, a meta description and a favicon. That will help search engines index the site faster and improve how shoppers perceive the store.
After that, connect an SSL certificate and activate HTTPS. A secure connection is essential for transmitting customers’ data safely and has a positive effect on shoppers’ trust.
Do not forget to set up email for sending order and registration notifications. It is advisable to check straight away that sending works, using a test message.
