Right after installing Joomla on hosting you need to do the following:
Check the folder permissions. It is important to make sure Joomla has access to all the system directories. Pay particular attention to the /administrator/logs and /tmp folders. If access is missing, it is advisable to set 755 for folders and 644 for files.
Check the paths to the system directories. Under “System” you need to make sure the paths to the logs folder and the tmp temporary files are correct. Errors in these paths can lead to problems installing extensions and running the site.
Check the database settings. In the server section you need to make sure the database connection parameters are filled in correctly. These details are usually set during the CMS installation, but they are worth double-checking.
Leave the default editor in place. TinyMCE is the recommended visual editor — it is installed in the system by default and is fully compatible with Joomla.
While the site is under development, it is advisable to enable Noindex, Nofollow so the pages are not indexed by search engines.
Set the correct time zone. In the server parameters you need to select the current time zone. That matters for publishing material correctly and for scheduling to work.
Turn off caching and compression during development. While the site is being actively configured and filled with content, Gzip compression and caching are best left off.
