After installing October CMS on hosting, go to the control panel and change the default administrator details for something more secure. Use a complex password and a current email address for account recovery.
October CMS supports extending its functionality through plugins. Install only the modules the project genuinely needs: SEO tools, contact forms, caching or security facilities.
To speed up page loading it is advisable to enable the system cache and check that file compression is working. That matters particularly for sites with a large number of images and modules.
Make sure the storage, themes and plugins directories have the right write permissions. Incorrect permissions can cause errors when updating and uploading files.
