How to register DNS for a server

When you connect a new server or transfer a website, it is important to set the DNS records correctly so that the domain “points” to the desired IP address. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to register DNS for the server in your UFO personal account so that everything works correctly.

1. Log in to your UFO account and go to the “DNS” section. Here you need to select and sign up for DNS service for your domain. After this, it will become available for further configuration in the panel.

Next, open the DNS manager panel. This is where you will manage the zones, records, and nameservers for your domains.

3. Find your domain in the list and complete the initial setup:

— indicate the domain name itself;
— add a current e-mail for communication and service notifications.

The system needs this data for correct operation and, if necessary, for communication with the domain owner.

4. Go to the DNS settings section and make sure that the correct NS records are registered for the domain. Our NS servers are provided by default, so in most cases it is enough to check that everything is correct and without typos.

5. Then open the list of zone entries. If your domain does not yet have A and AAAA records, add them through the “Add” section. At this stage:

— create an A-record by specifying the IPv4 address of your server;

— if necessary, add an AAAA record with an IPv6 address.

This way you will link the domain to the specific IP on which your website is located.

After saving the settings, you need to wait for the DNS to update over the network. Recordings typically start working within a few hours, but may take up to 24-48 hours to be fully distributed. After this time, the domain will open with new settings for all users.
